Inquire for Playa MujeresPlaya Mujeres and the Costa Mujeres stretch sit just north of Puerto Juárez, past the ferry terminals to Isla Mujeres, on a coast that was almost empty until the resort wave of the last decade. Development here is newer and lower density than the Hotel Zone: the properties are enormous, set back behind mangrove and a golf course, with beachfront that runs for hundreds of metres per resort. From Cancún airport it is roughly half an hour to forty five minutes, depending on traffic and which property.
For photography the geography changes three things. The shoreline bends, so the beach faces roughly north and northeast rather than dead east: the water sits calmer and shallower, the sand is wide and pale, and the horizon holds Isla Mujeres in the distance instead of a wall of towers. The beaches are genuinely quiet, so a portrait walk does not have strangers in every frame the way it does at Playa Delfines. And the seaweed that reaches the coast further south generally arrives here in far smaller quantities.
