Dreams Vista Cancún sits in a gated community just north of downtown, closer to the city and airport than the big Playa Mujeres resorts. Wedding listings name an Ocean Deck Palapa for about 150, the beach for about 100, the Grand Vista Terrace and an Oceanview Rooftop for smaller ceremonies, plus an Infinity Pool Rooftop for receptions.
Dreams Vista Cancún is the practical choice of this shore: thirty minutes from the airport and fifteen from downtown Cancún, with Isla Mujeres in front of the beach and several rooftop venues. For a photographer, rooftops are a gift on an east-facing coast, because they catch the last warm light. Here is how its venues compare.

Where the Ceremony Happens
The Ocean Deck Palapa, listed for about 150 ceremony guests, is a beachfront palapa of natural materials with romantic lighting. Palapas give shade and a warm, rustic frame; we light faces softly so they hold against the bright sea.
The beach, about 100 guests, is the classic option, with Isla Mujeres on the horizon. The Grand Vista Terrace is listed for about 150 with partial ocean and golf course views, and the Oceanview Rooftop for about 50 is the intimate choice. For receptions, the Infinity Pool Rooftop holds about 80.
Height is the key: from the terrace and rooftops you see over the beach to the sea and catch warm light after the sand is already in shade.

This beach faces northeast toward Isla Mujeres, so the sun sets behind the resort and the shoreline gets soft, even light late in the day, while the rooftops keep the warm glow a little longer. A good rule here: start the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, and keep the final half hour of daylight for portraits. From roughly May through July the sun rises from behind Isla Mujeres, which makes a sunrise session here unusually striking.
Bringing Your Own Photographer
Bringing your own photographer to Dreams Vista Cancún is allowed, with an access charge for outside wedding vendors that the resort sets by season and package. Because the number moves, the only figure that counts is the one in your own contract or in an email from your coordinator. Ask two questions: is it per vendor or per person, and does a higher wedding package include it? We register with the resort and send our documents ourselves.
