Beloved Playa Mujeres is a small, couples-only resort of about 110 suites, many of them casitas with private pools or rooftop plunge pools. For a honeymoon session that is a gift: start in total privacy at your casita, then walk to the calm beach for the last light. For most of the year the sun rises from behind Isla Mujeres. Sessions start at 245 USD.
Beloved is the most intimate resort on Playa Mujeres: couples only, adults over 18, around 110 suites and casitas with their own pools. It is built for honeymoons and anniversaries, and a photoshoot there should feel the same way, private and unhurried. Here is how we plan one.

Starting at Your Casita
Many of Beloved's casitas have private pools, and the two-storey ones add a rooftop plunge pool. If you have one, it is where we begin: completely private, with nobody walking through the frame, and relaxed enough that even camera-shy couples forget we are there within a few minutes. A glass of champagne, the pool edge, the terrace in warm light: these are the honeymoon photos that feel like memories rather than poses.
Swimwear, linen or the clothes you will wear on the beach all work here. If you would like a few frames in the water, plan them for the start of the session so that hair and make-up survive the beach.
The Beach at the Last Light
From the casita we walk to the beach. The sea in front of Playa Mujeres is calm and shallow, with Isla Mujeres on the horizon, and the beach faces east, so in the last half hour the light is soft and even and the water turns deep blue. It is the setting for walking frames, close portraits and a short blue-hour portrait just after sunset.

For most of the year, from about August to May, the sun rises from behind Isla Mujeres, directly across the channel. A sunrise session at Beloved, starting on your terrace with coffee and ending on an empty beach, is one of the most romantic ways to begin a honeymoon day. For the evening, start about an hour before sunset.

With a private-pool casita in the plan, Creative Runway at 75 minutes gives time for the casita and the beach. As a staying guest, give the front desk the photographer's name and the session time in advance; Beloved is couples-only, so the photographer works discreetly and only in the areas the resort agrees.
