Many couples come to Beloved for an anniversary, and a growing number want to mark it with a vow renewal. The good news is that a renewal does not need a legal ceremony, a planner or guests. At a couples-only resort, the most meaningful version is often the simplest: a few written words, a quiet beach and someone to photograph it. Here is how we plan it.

Keeping It Simple

A vow renewal is symbolic, so there is no legal process and no required officiant. That gives you two routes. The first is to book a vow renewal through the resort, which typically adds an officiant, a small set-up and perhaps a dinner; Beloved has promoted packages for anniversaries and vow renewals, so ask the concierge what is offered for your dates. The second, which many couples prefer, is to do it yourselves: you walk to the water at an agreed time, read your words to each other, and we photograph it, quietly, from a respectful distance.

Where and When

The beach is the natural setting: calm, shallow water, Isla Mujeres on the horizon and soft, even light at the end of the day, because the sun sets behind the resort. If you would rather be completely private, your casita, especially one with a private or rooftop plunge pool, is a beautiful alternative.

We suggest starting about an hour before sunset: twenty minutes for the words, then portraits in the warm light and a short blue-hour frame after the sun goes down. Times shown are for the 15th of each month in 2027.

Writing Your Words

Short is better than long. Most couples write something under two minutes each: one memory from the early days, one thing the other person has taught you, one promise for the years ahead. Print it on a card rather than reading from a phone; it photographs far better and you will keep it. If you are bringing back your original rings, or exchanging new ones, tell us so we can photograph them in detail beforehand.

How We Photograph It

We arrive early, check in as your guest and photograph the words from a distance with a long lens, so it stays a private moment. Then we move closer for portraits along the shoreline. Our coverage uses session collections, edited and delivered in a private 4K gallery within one to three business days.

Glow Hour at 45 minutes covers the renewal and a short portrait session; Essential Flow at 60 minutes adds time in your casita. For access, the photographer's name goes on your reservation; a short private session for a staying guest is very seldom charged the outside vendor fee used for weddings, but we confirm it with the resort in writing.
