Esperanza is a small Auberge resort on Punta Ballena, just outside Cabo San Lucas, with around 57 casitas and suites stepping down the rocks between two coves. It suits couples and intimate weddings that want privacy more than a big beach. Ceremonies use the beach, the terraces and the restaurant decks; most guests swim in the pools. Sessions start at 245 USD plus travel; wedding coverage starts at 1,800 USD.
Esperanza is the opposite of a big Cabo resort: a few dozen casitas on the rocks of Punta Ballena, two small coves, and terraces that hang over the water. Weddings here are small by design, and the photographs are about texture and closeness: stone, palm, linen and the sea a few steps below.

How Esperanza Photographs
Esperanza works at a human scale. Instead of one long beach, you have small coves, stone paths, palapa roofs and private terraces, so a session moves through several close, textured frames in a short walk. Couples look best on the terraces above the water and on the sand of the coves in the softer light of late afternoon; we keep away from the rocks at the waterline, where the surf breaks.
Weddings
The resort hosts destination weddings on its beach, on terraces and pool decks and at its restaurant spaces, and offers full buyouts for couples who want the whole property. With so few rooms, a buyout is realistic when most of your guests stay on property, and it keeps the weekend completely private. Book early for winter dates, and confirm the current venues and capacities with the resort.
Light and Times
Times for Punta Ballena on the 15th of each month in 2027. Baja California Sur keeps Pacific time all year (UTC-7, no daylight saving), the same as Alberta in winter.

We plan ceremonies to start about 90 minutes before sunset, so that family photos and portraits fall in the warm last light. That is around 4:05 pm in December and 5:35 pm in June; for a session we meet about an hour before sunset, around 4:35 pm in December and 6:05 pm in June.
Access and Vendors
For a private session, register the photographer at the front desk as your guest, with the time of the session, a day or two ahead. Weddings are coordinated with the resort's wedding team, which sets the rules for outside vendors and any access fee; ask for them in writing before you sign.

What does it cost? Half-day coverage, up to four hours, is 1,800 to 2,800 USD. The full day, eight to ten hours with two photographers, is 3,500 to 5,500 USD, the right choice for larger weddings.
