The Best Wedding Dates of 2027 in Cancún: A Month-by-Month Calendar

In short

For a Cancún wedding in 2027, the steadiest weather runs from February to April and from November to early December: dry, warm and usually with little sargassum. Saturday, February 27, 2027 (2.27.27) falls right in that window. Book early for Holy Week (March 21 to 28) and the US holiday weekends. Summer dates such as 7.7.27 and 7.27.27 are hot, fall in hurricane season and often in sargassum season, so they need a plan B.

"What is the best date?" is the first question almost every couple asks us, and for 2027 it is already the right time to answer it: resorts open their wedding calendars more than a year ahead, and save-the-dates for a destination wedding go out 10 to 12 months before. Here is the whole year on one page, with the official weather, the light, the holiday weekends and the special dates, as we would explain it over coffee.

Temperatures and rain are the official 1991 to 2020 normals of Mexico's national weather service (SMN) for the Cancún station. Sunset is for the Hotel Zone beach on the 15th of each month in 2027; Quintana Roo does not use daylight saving.

What Each Season Really Means

February to April: the safest bet. These are the driest months of the year, with 39 to 59 mm of rain on average and comfortable evenings. The catch is demand: March is spring break, and Holy Week 2027 runs from March 21 to 28, the busiest week on the beaches. Sargassum usually starts to build in April, so for the cleanest water, February and March are the strongest choices.

May to August: long, hot days. Sunsets after 7 pm give you long evenings, and the sea is at its warmest. It is also the season when sargassum is usually heaviest on the open Caribbean beaches, and from June 1 it is hurricane season. We photograph many beautiful summer weddings; they simply need a sheltered beach or a garden option and a calm couple who knows the plan B. Our guide to planning a wedding around sargassum explains how.

September and October: the gamble. These are the rainiest months, with 182 and 277 mm on average, and the peak of the hurricane season. Prices and crowds are lowest for a reason. If you choose them, buy travel insurance and read our guide to insurance and deposits.

November to early December: the second sweet spot. The rains ease, sargassum is usually minimal and the light is soft. Cold fronts, called nortes, can bring a windy day or two, so we always keep an indoor or sheltered option. Our guides to November and December have the details.

A note on sargassum

Seaweed seasons change from year to year: in 2026 it arrived as early as January. We check the monitoring reports in the weeks before every wedding and plan the ceremony spot accordingly.

The Special Dates of 2027

Holiday Weekends to Know

Long weekends help your guests travel with fewer days off, but they also raise flight and hotel prices. For 2027:

Saturday, Friday or Sunday?

Saturday is still the date everyone wants, and there are only 52 of them in 2027. A Friday or Sunday wedding often finds more availability at resorts and with vendors, and on a destination wedding your guests are already on vacation, so a weekday makes little difference to them. A Sunday before a US Monday holiday gives you the best of both.

What Time to Say "I Do"

Plan the ceremony backwards from sunset. When it ends about 60 to 90 minutes before the sun goes down, there is time for family photos while the light is soft and for couple portraits in the golden minutes. In practice that means a ceremony starting around 4:15 pm in December and January and around 5:30 pm in June and July. Our wedding day photo timeline shows full schedules for different lengths of coverage.

When to Book

For a 2027 wedding, the order is simple: venue first, then photographer, then save-the-dates. Popular resorts open their 2027 calendars well over a year ahead, and save-the-dates for a destination wedding go out 10 to 12 months before the date, as we explain in our save-the-date guide. For dates between February and April 2027, that means deciding now. Our 12-month checklist lays out the rest.

Photography Coverage and Prices

Our reference ranges for weddings: editorial half-day coverage, up to four hours around the ceremony and golden hour, runs 1,800 to 2,800 USD. A full wedding day of eight to ten hours with a second shooter runs 3,500 to 5,500 USD, and full-day photography with a cinematic highlight film runs 5,500 to 8,000 USD. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best month for a wedding in Cancún in 2027?
February and March are the safest bets: they are among the driest months, with 59 and 39 mm of rain on average, comfortable evenings and usually little sargassum. November and early December are the second sweet spot. Avoid Holy Week, March 21 to 28, 2027, unless you book very early.
Is February 27, 2027 a good wedding date in Cancún?
Yes. 2.27.27 is a Saturday in the driest season of the year, before spring break, with sunset at about 6:45 pm. Expect it to be one of the first dates to fill at popular resorts.
Is July a good month for a wedding in Cancún?
It can be, with a plan. July is hot, falls in hurricane season and often in sargassum season, but the evenings are long, with sunset at about 7:32 pm. Choose a sheltered beach or garden option and an evening ceremony.
When is hurricane season in Cancún?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, with September and October the highest-risk and rainiest months. Direct hits are uncommon, but travel insurance is wise for dates in that window.
How far ahead should we book a Cancún wedding for 2027?
Book the venue first, more than a year ahead for popular dates, then the photographer, and send save-the-dates 10 to 12 months before the wedding. For February to April 2027, that means deciding now.
What time should a beach wedding ceremony start in Cancún?
Plan it to end about 60 to 90 minutes before sunset, which means starting around 4:15 pm in December and January and around 5:30 pm in June and July. That leaves time for family photos and golden-hour portraits.
