Destination Family Photographer in Mexico

A family photographer who comes to you. We travel from Cancún to your resort, villa or town anywhere in Mexico and make editorial, golden-hour portraits of your family in the place you chose for the trip. Bilingual, unhurried, and yours within days.

Plan Your Session

One family, any coast, the light that suits it

You have already chosen the place. A resort on the Riviera Maya, a villa above the cliffs of Los Cabos, a colonial street in San Miguel de Allende, a beach at sunrise in Puerto Vallarta. A destination family photographer exists so the place you picked becomes the set, and your family the subject, without anyone having to find a studio in a city they barely know. We are based in Cancún and we travel to you.

This is the national anchor for our family work. From the Caribbean coast near home to the Pacific, the highlands and the Yucatán, we bring the same editorial direction and the same patience to wherever your family is gathered. The frame we build for is the one that hangs in the hallway long after the trip ends: the whole family in soft morning light, the parents and children at ease, the grandparents at the center, the place itself unmistakable in the background.

If you are staying near home, our luxury family photography in Cancún covers the Caribbean coast in detail. If your family tree is gathering from several countries at once, the multigenerational family page goes deeper on large, mixed-age groups. This page is for the simple, central question: a family photographer who will travel to your destination in Mexico, wherever in the country that is.

The destinations we cover across Mexico

01

Cancún & Riviera Maya

Close to home: the calm, gently shelving beaches of Cancún, the resorts of the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen and Mayakoba. No travel surcharge, golden-hour light on turquoise water, the coast we know best.

02

Tulum & Isla Mujeres

The wild, low-rise beaches and jungle backdrops of Tulum, and the shallow, swimmable shore of Isla Mujeres a short ride from Cancún. Barefoot, editorial, and made for families who want something a little more raw and natural.

03

Los Cabos

The dramatic meeting of desert and sea on the Baja peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez light is unlike anywhere else. We travel here often for families staying along the corridor. See our dedicated Los Cabos family page.

04

Puerto Vallarta

Pacific sunsets over Banderas Bay, the old town's cobbled streets, and wide beaches backed by green mountains. A warm, golden setting for families gathering on the western coast for a holiday or a reunion.

05

San Miguel de Allende

The highlands, where the family steps out of the surf and into colonial streets, rooftop terraces and the warm stone of a UNESCO town. The late-afternoon light here turns a family walk into an editorial portrait.

06

Mérida & Mexico City

The Yucatán's haciendas and pastel streets, and the parks, courtyards and architecture of CDMX. For families whose trip is about culture and the city as much as the beach, we bring the same golden-hour eye indoors and out.

We bring the studio to your trip

You pick the place, we come to it

Tell us your resort, villa or town and your dates, and we plan the session around where you are. We photograph on your property's beach or grounds, or at a nearby beach, plaza or landmark, so no one in the family has to travel far on the day.

Golden hour, scouted in advance

We shoot in the soft window just after sunrise or before sunset, when the light is gentle and the popular spots are calm. For each destination we scout the exact location and sun angle ahead of time, so the family arrives to a plan, not a guess.

Transparent travel, quoted up front

Sessions in and around Cancún and the Riviera Maya carry no travel surcharge. For destinations farther afield we add a clear travel fee, quoted with the session itself, so the price you see is the price you pay, with no surprises.

Bilingual direction, gentle pacing

Everything happens in English or Spanish, whichever suits your family. We pace the morning for the youngest and the eldest, keep the energy light, and direct warmly, so the photos feel like your family at its best rather than a stiff, posed line-up.

01

Luxury Family Photography

Our Caribbean-coast family work in detail: golden-hour resort and beach portraits in Cancún and the Riviera Maya, the place we know best and the easiest base for a family staying near home.

02

Multigenerational Photography

When three or four generations gather from several countries at once, our multigenerational page goes deeper on large, mixed-age groups, legacy portraits and the pacing a big family needs.

03

Los Cabos Family Sessions

The Pacific counterpart to our Caribbean work. For families staying on the Baja corridor, our Los Cabos family page covers the desert-and-sea light and the spots we love there.

The destination is half the portrait

A studio backdrop could be anywhere. The reason a family flies to Mexico, and the reason these photos matter, is the place itself: the turquoise of the Caribbean, the desert cliffs of Baja, the warm stone of a highland town. We travel so the place you chose is unmistakable in the frame, woven through the portrait instead of swapped out for a paper sweep.

We deliver your private gallery within one to three days, while you are often still on the trip, so the family can relive the morning before everyone scatters home. Every session includes a print release, because a family portrait made on the other side of a special trip belongs on a wall, not only on a phone.

We do not ask the family to find us. We come to the place they chose, in the hour the light is honest, and let the destination do half the work.

The logistics of a photographer who travels

Hiring a photographer for a trip you have planned from another country can feel like a leap of faith, so we keep it simple. You tell us the city or resort, the dates, and roughly how many people are coming. We reply the same day with the golden-hour windows that work for your stay, a recommended spot near where you are based, and a single clear quote that already includes any travel. There is no studio for you to find and no guesswork about whether we cover your destination.

Where you are staying shapes the plan. On the Caribbean coast near Cancún we know the calm beaches and the resorts well and there is no travel fee. For Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende, Mérida or Mexico City we build the travel into the plan, agree on a backup morning in case of weather, and scout the location so we walk onto the right spot at the right hour. Many resorts have their own photo-access rules, so if yours does, we simply choose a nearby beach, plaza or landmark and keep the session just as effortless.

Coordinating a family across a trip is its own small craft, and it is part of what you are hiring us for. We send one clear wardrobe guide so nobody arrives clashing or over-thinking it, we confirm every detail in English or Spanish with whoever is organizing, and on the day itself we keep the morning gentle enough that the toddlers stay happy and the grandparents leave honored. For a single household staying near home, our luxury family photography and our Los Cabos family sessions cover the same care, focused on one coast.

What families ask before booking a destination session

What is a destination family photographer?

A destination family photographer travels to wherever your family is gathering rather than working from a single studio. IVAE Studios is based in Cancún and travels across Mexico to meet you at your resort, villa or chosen town and photograph your family there, on the beach or in the streets and gardens of the place itself. You do not bring the family to a studio; we bring the studio to your trip.

Where in Mexico does IVAE Studios travel for family sessions?

We are based in Cancún, so the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Isla Mujeres are close to home. Beyond the Caribbean coast we travel to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende, Mérida and Mexico City, and we will consider other destinations across the country. Tell us where you are staying and we will confirm travel and the best golden-hour spot near you.

Will the photographer come to our resort or villa?

Yes. The whole point of a destination family session is that we come to you. We photograph on the beach or grounds of your resort, in the garden or rooftop of a private villa, or at a nearby beach, plaza or landmark if your property has photo-access rules. Tell us where you are staying and we will confirm access and plan the session around your location.

How does booking a destination family photographer work?

Send us your travel dates, the city or resort where you are staying, and how many people are in the group. The studio replies the same day in English or Spanish with golden-hour availability for your dates, a recommended spot near you, and a clear quote. Once you confirm, we hold the morning or evening that suits your trip and send a short wardrobe and timing guide before you fly.

When is the best time of day for a destination family session?

Golden hour, always: the soft window just after sunrise or before sunset, when the light is gentle and the most popular spots are at their calmest. On the Caribbean coast and in Los Cabos and Vallarta we often favor sunrise on the beach; in towns like San Miguel de Allende and Mérida the late-afternoon light on the streets and rooftops is unmatched. We scout the spot and sun angle for your specific location in advance.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as your travel dates are set. Because we travel and golden-hour windows are limited to one or two per day, the calendar fills earliest around holidays and peak season. Booking weeks ahead lets us hold the best light of your trip and plan any travel to a town beyond the Cancún region. Send your dates by WhatsApp or email and the studio replies the same day.

What does a destination family session cost, including travel?

Sessions in and around Cancún and the Riviera Maya carry no travel surcharge. For destinations farther afield, such as Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende, Mérida or Mexico City, we add a transparent travel fee that we quote up front with the session, so there are no surprises. Tell us your location and dates and we send a single, clear quote.

Can you photograph multiple generations or a large family group?

Yes. Many destination family trips are reunions, so we are used to three or four generations and larger groups. We pace the session for the eldest and youngest, build a written running order of the groupings you want, and keep the morning gentle. For a reunion built entirely around the lineage, see our multigenerational family photography page, which goes deeper on large mixed-age groups.

What should our family wear for the photos?

After booking you receive a wardrobe guide. We suggest coordinating two or three soft, complementary tones rather than matching outfits, so the family reads as one without looking like a uniform. Flowing linens and natural fabrics photograph beautifully in golden light, on a beach in Tulum or a colonial street in San Miguel de Allende alike. We are glad to advise on individual looks before the trip.

Do you speak English and Spanish on the session?

Yes. IVAE Studios is fully bilingual, and every part of the experience, from the first message to the direction on the day, happens in your language. That matters most for mixed groups and grandparents, where clear, warm direction in the right language keeps everyone relaxed and the morning moving.

How soon do we receive the gallery, and can we print?

Your private, high-resolution gallery arrives within one to three days, while you are often still on the trip. Every session includes a print release, so you can order heirloom prints and albums for the wall, not only keep the photos on a screen. We gladly advise on printing once you have chosen your favorites.

What if it rains on our session date?

Weather on the coast moves fast, and a passing shower often clears in time for golden hour. If the forecast is genuinely against us, we work with you to shift to another morning or evening within your trip, and we keep an eye on the light so we use the best window available. For travel destinations we agree on a backup day when we plan the trip.

Which city page should we look at for our destination?

This page is the national anchor for destination family sessions across Mexico, and it links to focused pages for each place we work. For the Caribbean coast see our Cancún and Riviera Maya family photography; for the Pacific see our Los Cabos family photographer page. If your destination does not have its own page yet, write to us anyway and we will plan it directly with you.

Tell us where you're headed

Send us your destination, your travel dates and the shape of your family, and the studio replies the same day with golden-hour availability and a single quote that includes any travel. Bilingual direction, gallery in 1 to 3 days.
