The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, sits above Playa Monumento in Cabo San Lucas, and most of its rooms and terraces look straight at El Arco. Its rooftop holds receptions of up to about 200 guests, and the infinity pool deck works for ceremonies facing the arch. In winter the sun sets toward Land's End, a little to the right of the arch. Sessions start at 245 USD plus travel; wedding coverage starts at 1,800 USD.
Plenty of Los Cabos resorts have a view. The Cape has the view: El Arco and Land's End across the water, framed from nearly every terrace. For a wedding or a couples session that means one thing, the frame that says Cabo is already there, and our job is to time the light so it glows.

Framing El Arco
From The Cape, El Arco sits to the southwest across the bay. In winter the sun goes down in the same direction, toward Land's End and a little to the right of the arch, so from November through January the arch and the sunset share the frame. In spring and summer the sun sets further west, behind the hills, and the arch glows in side light instead. Either way, the last 30 minutes before sunset are the moment for portraits on the terraces and the pool deck.

Weddings on the Rooftop
The Rooftop is The Cape's main reception space, listed by the hotel for up to about 200 guests, with open-air bars, sunken seating and fire pits and the bay below. Ceremonies often take place on the infinity pool deck facing the arch. A cocktail hour on the rooftop at sunset, then dinner as the lights of the marina come on, gives the gallery its best sequence.
Light and Times
Times for Cabo San Lucas on the 15th of each month in 2027. Baja California Sur keeps Pacific time all year (UTC-7, no daylight saving), the same as Alberta in winter.
| Month | Sunrise | Golden | Sunset |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | 7:02 am | 5:23 pm | 5:56 pm |
| March | 6:28 am | 5:59 pm | 6:29 pm |
| May | 5:39 am | 6:22 pm | 6:53 pm |
| June | 5:34 am | 6:34 pm | 7:06 pm |
| July | 5:43 am | 6:36 pm | 7:08 pm |
| September | 6:06 am | 5:53 pm | 6:23 pm |
| November | 6:33 am | 5:03 pm | 5:35 pm |
| December | 6:52 am | 5:04 pm | 5:37 pm |
A good rule here: start the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, and keep the final half hour of daylight for portraits. That is around 4:05 pm in December and 5:35 pm in June; for a session we meet about an hour before sunset, around 4:35 pm in December and 6:05 pm in June. For the arch in the frame at sunset, choose a date from November to January.
Access and Vendors
For a private session, register the photographer at the front desk as your guest, with the time of the session, a day or two ahead. Weddings are coordinated with the resort's wedding team, which sets the rules for outside vendors and any access fee; ask for them in writing before you sign.
