Park Hyatt Riviera Maya: What We Know, and How to Plan Photos at a Resort That Opens in 2027

Few openings on this coast have been awaited as long as Park Hyatt's. Planned first for 2025, then 2026, it is now taking reservations for February 2027. If you are dreaming of a honeymoon, a proposal or an intimate wedding there, here is what has been announced, what it suggests for photos and how to protect your plans while the resort is still under construction.

Details are from One Mile at a Time's report on the opening, which also describes a Beach Club Grill with seafood and Yucatecan flavors, an all-day restaurant, a steakhouse, a pool bar and a patisserie. The same report puts early cash rates at about $1,500 a night.

A Small Resort on a Big Coast

With 148 rooms, Park Hyatt will be one of the smaller resorts on a coast where 400 or 500 rooms is common, and smaller usually means quieter paths, more private beach areas and staff who remember your name. For photos, that is a gift: fewer people in the background and more freedom to wander.

Its neighbor, Waldorf Astoria Cancún, sits on the coast south of Cancún's airport, on the stretch between the Hotel Zone and Puerto Morelos. That coast faces east to the open Caribbean, so the sun rises over the sea and the late-afternoon light falls on the water from behind you.

What It Suggests for Photos

When to Shoot

Times for this stretch of coast on the 15th of each month in 2027. Quintana Roo does not use daylight saving.

For a session on an east-facing beach, the hour before sunset gives warm light on your faces and a bright turquoise sea; sunrise gives the sun itself coming up out of the water.

Booking a Celebration at a Resort That Has Not Opened

• Get the opening date in writing, with what happens to your deposit if it moves. This resort's opening has already moved twice.
• Choose a backup resort nearby with similar style for the same dates; the neighboring Waldorf Astoria is one option to discuss with your planner.
• Ask for the vendor policy for photographers before you sign anything.
