How Many Photos Do You Get From a Couples Session?

It is the question we hear most before a session, usually in the same email as "what should we wear?" and "where do we meet?" And it is a fair one. You are booking a photographer on a trip that may be your honeymoon, your tenth anniversary, or the first time in years it has just been the two of you, and you want to know what you actually walk away with. So here is the honest answer, before any of the romantic talk about light and the ocean: a standard one-hour couples session with the studio delivers roughly 40 to 80 fully edited, high-resolution images, and we would rather tell you why that range exists than quote you a tidy round number that means nothing.

The honest number, and why it is a range

For a typical one-hour couples session, the studio delivers somewhere between 40 and 80 final edited photographs. That is not us hedging. It is the difference between a session where the two of you settle in quickly, the wind cooperates, and we move through three or four setups, versus one where the light is dramatic and we slow down to chase it. Both produce a beautiful gallery. One simply yields more frames.

What that range is not built on is volume for its own sake. During the hour we may capture several hundred raw exposures, especially during walking shots and the candid in-between moments when you forget the camera is there. We then cull that down hard. You receive the frames where the expression, the posture, and the light all land at once, not forty near-identical versions of the same pose with your eyes half-closed in eleven of them. The number you get is the number worth keeping.

What "edited" actually means

Every image we deliver is individually color-graded and retouched to our golden-hour editorial standard: skin tones balanced, the Caribbean blues kept true rather than oversaturated, distractions cleaned up. We do not hand over a folder of unedited proofs and ask you to choose. The full gallery is finished work.

What changes how many you receive

A few honest variables move the count. Session length is the biggest: couples who book a 90-minute or two-hour session, often because they want both a beach look and a resort or jungle look, naturally come away with more. Location variety matters too. A shoot that moves from the sargassum-free sand of Playa Mujeres to a lit pool deck at blue hour gives us more distinct scenes to deliver from than a single stretch of beach, lovely as that beach may be.

The two of you matter most of all. Couples who are comfortable touching, laughing, and actually talking to each other in front of the lens generate more usable frames than couples who freeze, and that is completely normal on the first ten minutes of any session. Part of our job, and a real one, is loosening that up so the back half of the hour overflows. If you are nervous about exactly this, our couples photography page walks through how we direct so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.

"The number you get is the number worth keeping, not the number we happened to shoot."

When they arrive: turnaround and delivery

This is the part travellers care about more than they expect to, because most of you are on a tight trip. The studio delivers the full edited gallery within 1 to 3 business days. For couples flying home to New York, Toronto, London, or anywhere else within a week, that means your photos are usually waiting before you have finished unpacking, while the trip is still vivid enough to relive through them.

Delivery is a private, password-protected 4K online gallery, not a stack of social-sized JPEGs squeezed through email. You download full-resolution files directly to your phone or laptop, as many times as you like. If you booked the session as part of a longer stay along the Riviera Maya or up in Cancun, we can often turn around a small preview set even faster so you have something to share before you fly out.

The part people forget: usage rights

A high image count means little if you are not actually allowed to use the photos, so let us be clear. With a couples session you receive full personal usage rights to every delivered image. Print them, frame them, send them to family, post them, make an album, set one as your phone wallpaper for the next three years. There are no per-image unlock fees, no watermarks on your finals, and no separate "digital files" upsell after the fact. The edited gallery is yours.

The one honest line we draw is commercial use: if you want to use the images to sell a product or promote a business, that is a separate conversation, because it is a different kind of license. For the overwhelming majority of couples, who simply want to remember a trip beautifully, none of that applies. You can read more about how the studio approaches this across every kind of session on our about page.

Getting the most from your hour

If you want the higher end of that range, a little planning does more than you would think. Book the session for golden hour, the roughly ninety minutes before sunset, which is the only light the studio shoots in and the reason the gallery glows the way it does. Bring one outfit change if your location allows it, since a second look effectively gives you two galleries in one. And eat beforehand, oddly enough, because hungry couples get quiet, and quiet sessions deliver fewer frames.

Mostly, though, come ready to actually be with each other. The best images we deliver are almost never the ones where you are looking at the camera. They are the ones where one of you whispers something and the other one laughs for real. When you are ready to plan yours along the coast, reach out to the studio and tell us about your trip, your dates, and what you are celebrating. We will tell you honestly how many photos to expect, and then we will go make every one of them count.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many photos do you get from a couples photoshoot?

A standard one-hour couples session with the studio delivers roughly 40 to 80 fully edited, high-resolution images. Longer sessions or multiple locations yield more. Every delivered photo is individually color-graded and retouched, not a raw proof.

How fast will I get my couples photos after the session?

The full edited gallery is delivered within 1 to 3 business days through a private 4K online gallery. For couples on a short trip, the photos are usually ready before you fly home, and a small preview set can often be turned around even faster.

Do I get the raw or unedited files?

No, and that is intentional. We deliver a finished, individually edited gallery rather than hundreds of unculled raw frames. Raw files are working files, not the polished images you booked us for. The edited gallery is the deliverable.

Can I print and post the photos myself?

Yes. You receive full personal usage rights to every delivered image, with no watermarks, no per-image fees, and no extra charge for the digital files. You can print, frame, share, and post them freely. Only commercial use requires a separate license.
