Why IVAE on the Riviera Maya

One Coastline, Five Wedding Worlds

The Riviera Maya is not one place. It is an 80 mile wedding coastline running south from Puerto Morelos through Playa del Carmen, the Mayakoba resort complex, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-Ha and Akumal to Tulum, and each stretch has its own light, sand and architecture. A fishing village pier at first light. A five star canal resort at golden hour. A jungle chapel above the Caribbean. A cenote the morning after. We photograph weddings along the entire corridor, and we plan every one around what its exact stretch of coast does best.

Puerto Morelos keeps a bohemian fishing town calm twenty minutes from the airport. Playa del Carmen brings walkable energy, rooftop receptions and the widest resort choice on the coast. Mayakoba is the luxury benchmark, four five star properties on a private canal network that we cover so often it has its own dedicated Mayakoba wedding page. Akumal and Xpu-Ha hold the protected bays with the calmest water for portraits, and Tulum closes the corridor with jungle, boho architecture and the cenotes. If you are still choosing where to marry, our Riviera Maya photographer guide compares the areas in depth.

The Golden Hour Method

Every IVAE wedding gallery is built backward from sunset. We confirm the exact golden hour for your date, place the ceremony sixty to ninety minutes before it, and reserve the last twenty minutes of direct light for the two of you alone. On the Riviera Maya that discipline matters more than any camera: the coast faces east, so mornings give soft pastel light over the water and evenings give warm side light through the palms. We scout your venue at the ceremony hour, mark the frames in advance and guide you through natural movement while the light peaks. It is the reason the galleries read editorial instead of posed.

Bilingual, Local and Fast

IVAE Studios was founded in Cancún by Vianey Díaz, who has spent more than ten years photographing this coast. The team is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, which keeps both sides of a binational guest list at ease, and being local means no flights, no hotel minimums and no travel fees anywhere on the corridor. After the wedding, your complete edited gallery arrives in one to three business days through a private 4K gallery. For couples marrying elsewhere in the country, our destination wedding photography in Mexico page covers the full map, and if your celebration includes a cenote, start with our cenote photographer in Tulum guide.

I cannot recommend IVAE Studios enough. From the initial contact until the photos were delivered the communication and customer service was outstanding. My husband and I visited Cancun for our 10 year anniversary and wanted some photos.

Oh my goodness, if you are in the area IVAE Studios is the most amazing. We had so much fun at our photoshoot. We are somewhat awkward in front of the camera, but Vianey did excellent posing us and making us feel comfortable.

FAQ

Everything You Need to Know

No. Our Riviera Maya wedding coverage includes travel to every venue on the corridor at no extra cost, from Puerto Morelos in the north through Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Mayakoba, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu-Ha and Akumal down to Tulum. We are based in Cancún and drive this highway every week, so the commute is already built into our pricing. The only time a travel line appears on a Riviera Maya quote is for destinations beyond the corridor, such as Bacalar, Holbox or Isla Mujeres by ferry, and we confirm that number in writing before you book.
Yes, and it is one of the most requested additions to a Riviera Maya wedding. The limestone cenotes around Tulum and Puerto Aventuras sit minutes from most wedding venues, and a morning cenote session the day after the wedding produces images no beach can: light shafts through the cavern ceiling, still turquoise water and a dress floating in it. We scout the cenote in advance, arrange the location entry fees, coordinate early access before the crowds arrive and guide you through the water work. Most couples pair it with a trash the dress or a fresh styling session.
November through April is the dry season: low humidity, calm seas and predictable golden hours, which is why the corridor's peak wedding calendar runs January through March. May through October brings warmer temperatures and brief afternoon showers that usually clear before sunset, and September and October carry the highest tropical storm risk. Seasonal seaweed (sargassum) varies by year and by beach, so for a May to August date we suggest venues with protected bays such as Akumal, or a cenote or garden backdrop as a backup. We build every timeline around the exact sunset time for your date.
Most do, with conditions. Nearly every large resort on the corridor keeps a preferred vendor list, and an outside photographer is usually admitted with an external vendor fee or a day pass, commonly between 100 and 1,200 USD depending on the property. Some venues waive the fee if the photographer stays one night as a guest. We handle the entire approval with your wedding coordinator: insurance certificates, signed vendor agreements and crew lists, submitted before the property deadline, which can be one to six months ahead of the date. Tell us your venue when you inquire and we will confirm its current policy the same week.
Our most frequent assignments are inside the Mayakoba complex at Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Rosewood Mayakoba, at Grand Velas Riviera Maya between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos, at Hotel Esencia in Xpu-Ha, and at Hotel Xcaret México with the Xcaret park ceremony venues. We also cover boutique beach clubs in Tulum and Akumal and private villa weddings along the corridor. Each property lights differently, so we scout your ceremony site at the exact ceremony hour before the day.
We accept a maximum of twelve weddings per year, so peak dates go early. For Saturday weddings between January and April, eight to fourteen months ahead is the safe window. Off peak weekdays in May, June or September can sometimes be reserved three to six months out. Once your venue contract is signed, send us the date and the property and we will confirm availability within twenty four hours.
Fully bilingual. Vianey and the team work in English and Spanish on the day, which matters when half the guest list flies in from the United States or Canada and the other half from Mexico. Delivery is one of the fastest on the corridor: a curated preview within about 48 hours and the complete edited collection in one to three business days, delivered through a private 4K online gallery ready for download, sharing and print orders.
