Westin Lagunamar is on the central stretch of the Hotel Zone, on the open Caribbean. Here is how we plan a session there, from the first frame on the property to the last light on the sand.

Where We Shoot

Your villa. Villas with balconies give a private start.

The lagoon nearby. Across the boulevard, the Nichupté lagoon catches the sunset over water.

The water's edge. We always finish at the shoreline, away from the pools and loungers, where the background is only sea and sky.

Nearby. Public beaches along this stretch, such as Playa Marlin and Playa Ballenas, offer wide sand if you want a second setting.

Sunrise or Sunset

Times for this beach on the 15th of each month in 2027.

The beach faces east: the hour before sunset gives soft, even light, and sunrise lifts straight out of the sea. For a sunset over water, the Nichupté lagoon is just across the boulevard.

How the Photographer Gets In

Access is simple for guests of Westin Lagunamar. Put the photographer's name on your reservation at the front desk with the time of the session, and we meet you in the lobby. Resorts usually reserve their outside vendor fee for weddings, so a private session for a staying guest is very seldom charged, though we always confirm the current rule in writing first. Visitors who are not staying at the resort normally need a day pass; this guide explains how it works.
