Where We Shoot

The Nichupté lagoon at sunset. Sotavento Yacht Club is on the lagoon side of the Hotel Zone, and that is a real advantage: the lagoon is where Cancún's sunset actually happens over water. Calm, glassy water, mangroves and the sky turning orange behind you, a frame you cannot get on the Caribbean side, where the sun sets behind the hotels.

The Caribbean across the boulevard. The open sea is a short walk or taxi ride across the road. Public beaches along this shore, such as Playa Langosta and Playa Tortugas, have the same calm water if you want a second setting.

The Light, Month by Month

Times for this part of the coast on the 15th of each month in 2027. Quintana Roo keeps the same clock all year.

On the lagoon, the sun sets over the water, so book the last hour before sunset. On the Caribbean side, sunrise lifts straight out of the sea.

Where We Meet You

We meet you at the lobby of Sotavento Yacht Club or at an agreed point on the lagoon shore, then cross to the beach if your session includes the Caribbean. Beaches in Mexico are public, so a session on the sand needs no resort pass; we choose the access closest to you and plan the walk or taxi into the time.
