Where the Ceremony Happens
The stone caves are the signature: limestone, filtered light and an atmosphere no beach can match. Caves are dark, so we plan the time with the light and bring fast lenses and soft fill. The Chapel of Todos los Ángeles atop the Xpiral Pyramid gives a glass-walled ceremony with sea and jungle views, and the Xpiral Ballroom handles receptions.

Playa del Carmen faces east toward Cozumel, so the sun rises over the channel and sets behind the town, leaving the beach in soft, even light at the end of the day. A good rule here: start the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, and keep the final half hour of daylight for portraits. From roughly October through March the sun rises from behind Cozumel, which makes a sunrise session here unusually striking.
Bringing Your Own Photographer
One budget line couples often miss: Hotel Xcaret México, like nearly every all-inclusive resort here, charges outside wedding vendors for access to the property. It may be a fixed vendor fee or a per-person day pass, and it changes with the season and the package tier. Coverage and Prices
IVAE Studios wedding coverage starts at 1,800 to 2,800 USD for up to four hours. A full day of eight to ten hours with a second photographer is 3,500 to 5,500 USD, and photography with a wedding film is 5,500 to 8,000 USD.
