Where We Shoot
The beach. Open Caribbean, calm in the early morning, ideal for children at sunrise.
The lagoons. Mayakoba's resorts sit on a network of lagoons and mangrove canals, and boats link the four resorts; El Camaleón, the Greg Norman course that was the first PGA Tour venue in Latin America, winds through the same jungle.
El Pueblito. El Pueblito, Mayakoba's replica of a colonial Mexican village, with its mission-style chapel, La Santa Cruz, a kiosk and a plaza, is reachable by the lagoon boats or on request through the concierge.

With young children, sunrise on the beach; with older children, the lagoons in the last hour, when the sun sets over the water. Mornings have a bonus: in December, the sun comes up from behind Cozumel, across the water.
How the Photographer Gets In
How does the photographer get in? As your guest. Tell the Fairmont Mayakoba front desk our name and the time of the session in advance, and we check in at the lobby like anyone meeting you for dinner. A short private session for a staying guest is very seldom charged the outside vendor fee used for weddings, and we confirm the current policy with the resort in writing. Non-guests should plan for a day pass, as our access guide explains.
