Be Tulum Wedding Photographer: Venues, Light and Timing

In short

Be Tulum is a boutique beach hotel at the south end of Tulum's hotel road, known for its design and jungle-to-sea setting. Plan the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, and keep a backup for wind or seaweed.

Be Tulum is a boutique beach hotel at the south end of Tulum's hotel road, known for its design and jungle-to-sea setting. This guide is the photographer's view: venues, light, timeline and the questions to ask before you sign.

The Resort at a Glance

Venue names and capacities come from the resort's wedding listings and change with renovations and packages, so your coordinator's current sheet is the final word.

Where the Ceremony Happens

Ask Be Tulum's wedding team for the current ceremony and reception venues. On this coast the strongest settings are the beach and any raised terrace facing the sea, with pools and loungers out of the frame.

Tulum's cliff-top ruins are an INAH archaeological site, where professional photography needs a permit, so we usually photograph the coast around them rather than inside.

Tulum's beaches face east onto the open Caribbean, so the sun rises over the sea and sets behind the jungle; the last hour gives soft, even light on the sand. This open coast receives more sargassum in some seasons than the sheltered beaches near Cancún, so we always keep a jungle or cenote backup in the plan. A good rule here: start the ceremony about 90 minutes before sunset, and keep the final half hour of daylight for portraits.

Bringing Your Own Photographer

One budget line couples often miss: Be Tulum, like nearly every all-inclusive resort here, charges outside wedding vendors for access to the property. It may be a fixed vendor fee or a per-person day pass, and it changes with the season and the package tier. Ask for it in writing while your contract is still open, and ask whether a second photographer counts separately. Our comparison of resort and outside photographers helps you weigh it.

Coverage and Prices

Our wedding prices are public. Up to four hours of coverage costs 1,800 to 2,800 USD; a full day of eight to ten hours with a second photographer is 3,500 to 5,500 USD; photography plus a wedding film is 5,500 to 8,000 USD. The resort's access charge for outside vendors is separate and paid to the hotel. Your edited gallery arrives within one to three business days.
